Rain stops tennis titles
PA Hamilton 1 The weather continued to play J havoc with the T.A.A. national ’ age tennis titles at Hamilton yesterday. ! Only one match was played on ■ a grass court, the first time in ! two days, before rain again interrupted play late in the day. i The under 17 boys’ singles ;were completed to the first round on hard courts, but only one match was played in the second round before play was called off for the day with all eight seeds still in contention. Only two seeds have departed from the under 17 girls* singles, both due to injury problems. The fourth seed. Crista Pickwick (Auckland), was beaten in Thursday’s first round by Debbie Hills 'Canterbury*. 3-6. 6-1, 6-1. and xesterday withdrew from the doubles because of a nagging injury. The No 7 seed. Linda Ferkins (Kapi Mana), who was seeded No. 7. was beaten in the second round of the under 15 girls’ singles.
