Iraq lamb loss $1.5m?
iPA Wellington The rejection of 1/1600 (tonnes of New ZealandTamb (by Iraq may have cost the (exporting company more I than $1.5 million: ] It is a loss which Mr P. Johnston, genera! manager (of W. and R. Fletcher (New ] Zealand). Ltd, said yesterday would have to be written off to experience. He did not expect any problems with future sales, or interruption to present contracts. The loss was the result of an unfortunate series of incidents. Mr Johnston explained the ! difference between two fig-1 ures which had been quoted ] as the value of the lamb! deal. One of $4.5 million was the cost including freight, and the other of $3 million was without freight. He would not say what the lost sale had cost, but agreed it was fair to look at the $1.5 million difference between the two figures. ]
