Shah’s health ‘worsening’

NZPA-Reuter San Antonio The health of the deposed Shah of Iran has deteriorated in recent days and he faces more cancer surgery, according to the San Antonio “Express.” The newspaper quoted informants at the Air Force base where the Shah is staying as saying that his New York doctors had been asked to travel to the base to resume treatment. The Shah arrived in Texas earlier this month after spending six weeks at the Cornell Medical Centre, New York, where he underwent surgery to remove his gall bladder and gallstones. He also received radiation treatment for a malignant tumour in his neck. The newspaper said the neck condition had worsened and now required surgery.
