Speed, skill, and spills combined to make Saturday even, in., a V» oodford Glen Speedway meeting the most entertaining this season. With six meetings held and 17 more to come, drivers are becoming more competitive. The A and B grade saloon events provided plentv of excitement. Doug Smith and Tony Cardwel each shared an A-grade win. Smith pressed Dennis Bolt hard in the first race and squeezed past him into the lead with a few laps remaining. The second A grade event saw; numerous spins and crashes, but Cardwell emerged victorious Warwick Leech and Steven Gardiner acquitted themselves we 1 in the B grade saloon races, which again provided lots of close racing. The only modified sportsman event of the evening contained enough action for two races. The first lap leader, Arthur Inns, lost his lead in a spin, but was able to finish in second place. The favourite, and the fastest man on the track. Andy Hurst, suffered a flat tyre in lap two. This gave Graham Dodds his opportunitv and he shook off a challenge from Mike Allan, who retired soon after, and increased his lead from the remaining bunch to win.
