$6M for hospital buildings

Mere than S6.IM has been designated by the Cabinet for new buildings to be opened at Sunnyside Hospital in 1981. They are a SI.6M new central kitchen and a $4.3M central linen service that! will provide laundrv services for al! hospitals'in the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s area. The Cabinet yesterday gave approval to call tenders for the kitchen block; and tender documents for the laundry project will be completed before Christmas. The new kitchen block, which will open early in 1981, will replace a central kitchen which is 80 years old and a number of smaller kitchens. When it is opened, the 200 meals-on-wheels supplied from the hospital each day will be extended to 400. Thd completion date, of the new central laundry is set for October, 1981.
