A total of 85mm of rain fell at the Botanic Gardens during the month as against a 47mm average. More than half of this (45mm) fell on a single day — during the thunderstorm of November 20. At Christchurch Airport, in one period of 30 minutes, 20mm of rain was recorded. There was a total of 206 sunshine hours — the average for November is 208 — and the average temperature was 14.8 deg., also normal for the month.

The highest wind-gust was on November 22, a nor’-westerly gust that reached 37 knots.
