Heathcote may absorb power rise
' Heathctne Counts residents may not feel the full force of the recent 6 per cent increase in bulk electricity supply tariffs. At a meeting of the electricity committee. Cr J. Richardson said he hoped the council would not have to pass on the full increase to consumers. "I would like to see whether the council can drop its commission on power sales." he said The council could absorb some of the increase and maybe settle for 2 per cent, although we do not want the power account to end up in debit." The committee passed a recommendation to call a special meeting to consider the increase when council staff have made a final as. sessment of electricity charges
