PA Wellington When Parliament sat yesterday after a two-week recess, members presented eight petitions and gave nine notices of motion. Urgency was taken on the reporting back of the National Development Bill from the Lands and Agriculture Select Committee. The Masterton Country Council (Rates Validation) Bill and an amendment to the Local Legislation Bill were reported back from the Local Bills Committee. The Maori Purposes Bill was reported back from the Maori Affairs Select Committee. The Courts Amendment Bill was given a second reading, and the Police Amendment Bill, the Penal Institutions Amendment Bill, and the Crimes Amendment Bill; and the Police Offences Amendment Bill was divided into 50 sections, committed, and given a third reading. The Motor Vehicle Dealers’ Amendment Bill, the Commerce Amendment (No. 2), and the Electrical Registration Bill were put through the committee stages and reported, with amendment. The Customs Act Amendment Bill (No. 2) and the Immigration Amendment Bill were also dealt with clause by clause in committee and reported back, with amendment. The Minister of Labour (Mr Bolger) introduced the Industrial Relations Amendment Bill. The House rose at 11.55 p.m.
