NZPA-Reuter Zurich The International Football Federation (FIFA) yesterday acknowledged that television or film might be used as evidence against players committing offences which referees do not see. An editorial article in the official monthly publication, FIFA News, said: “Players whose offences are irrefutably revealed on television or

film could be pena for them.” The article, by a FIFA press officer, Rene Courte, noted that the West German Football Association recently suspended players whose offences were revealed only by television. More experience was needed before there was a general decision whether foul play could be punished on the basis of televised or filmed evidence, he added.
