This is the sixth in the series “Daughters of England.” The story this time is told by Priscilla Eversleigh, daughter of Arabella, narrator of Lament for a Lost Lover. The era this time is Monmouth’s rebellion and a story of court intrigue, love and fast-moving adventure fills every page. The scenes of Venetian life and English countryliving are intermingled
with style and excitement. Philippa Carr is also best-selling novelist Jean Plaidy and Victoria Holt. She does all her own research and her knowledge of English history is obviously a in-depth one; she also travels a great deal visiting exotic locations which she later uses to full advantage in her novels. This latest novel is of the usual high calibre one would expect from the pen that has produced over 80 bestsellers in thirty years.
