Shareprices on the London Stock Exchange climbed steadily during the middle of last week, but came back a little on Friday. The failure by E.E.C. partner to agree on the amount of Britain’s contribution, was partly the cause of Friday’s weakness, as were the developments in Iran and the consequent unease on Wall Street. Trading in the Australian
■ sector of the market was I quiet, but most shares made , solid progress, especially on ' the mining boards. Energy : stocks were in demand, but uraniums were mixed. Gold • stocks improved in line with ! bullion prices. But on Friday, Australian : shares also performed erratis cally, rises in the industrial i issues, which had been steady - for most of the week, were offset by losses on the min--1 ing boards.
