Urban Express out of steam? Just when Urban Express seemed to be picking up steam, the band is going through a bad patch. Strange mutterings are afoot (if they are allowed to do that) that the band’s last nights will be at Strummers nightclub this week-end. Exit Trails stage left Noise levels caused by rock bands in hotels seem to be causing more problems these days, both to groups and hotel management. According to Murray Olds, the drummer for Vapour and the Trails, the band were asked to leave the DB Lancaster Park Hotel last Friday night because the hotel management considered the noise level of the group to be excessive. Mr Olds also said a few other things, but “The Press” does not encourage libel suits. « i
Splash Alley tour Splash Alley have finished their resident stint at the Aranui Motor Hotel, and have embarked on a nationwide “Into the 80s” tour. The itinerary of the band includes Dunedin, Hamilton, Palmerston North, and Whakatane. The Auckland dates were to be confirmed. The band pass through town this Sunday, and will play at the “Heat Rave” at Jelly Park. No news is good news There has been a serious lack of news at the Aranui Motor Hotel of late. Bon Marche were meant to return to their resident spot at the Aranui as the News, but they have changed their minds and are. still calling themselves Bon Marche.
