Ex-MIS woman held on secrets charge
NZPA London As controversy continued in Britain over the Anthony Blunt spy scandal, a woman former employee of a Government security office, has been charged in an unrelated case under Britain’s Official Secrets Act. Scotland Yard reported that Special Branch officers ar-ested the 44-year-old woman on Saturday after an investigation in co-operation with the security services. Pamela Lamble, of Staines, near London, was remanded without bail by a magistrate) after it was charged that I last Thursday for purposes!
prejudicial to the safety of the State she attempted to communicate information to another person which might be useful, directly or indirectly, to an enemy. Scotland Yard said the woman had been employed by the Government office involving security but had resigned before her arrest. A Scotland Yard spokesman declined to identify the department. However, the London “Evening News” reported without attribution that Lamble had worked* for Ml 5, the counter-espionage department, and had recently left to become a student.
