A. Harris). For the year ended Sep-: tember 30,' 1978, the popu-: lation decrease was 2300, or: 0.07 per cent, and for the 12, months ended Eeptember 30,: 1977, there was an increase of 7700, or 025 per cent. he. said.
In the quarter ended Sepember 30, there was an estimated population increase of about. 10,300, resulting from a natural increase (excess of births over deaths) of 6100 and a net gain through migration of 4200. In the quarter ended September 30, 1978, there was a corresponding increase of 5700, while in the quarter ended September 30. 1977, the increase was 9600. The above population figures include the Kermadec Islands (12) and Campbell Island (10), but exclude the populations of Niue, Tokelau, and the Cook Islands.
