Registrar. , WSI THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC APPLICATIONS are invited for the following positions:— ASSISTANT LECTURER/ LECTURER IN HISTORY AND POLITICS (Post 79/90) CANDIDATES for an Assistant Lectureship should possess at least a Master’s Degree in the relevant field. For a lectureship a doctorate is preferred, together with teaching experience at the tertiary level. In the case of an exceptionally well qualified candidate, an appointment at the level of senior lecturer could be considered. The prime responsibility of one appointee will be to mount a first-year degree course in Contemporary History. This will be a general study in modern history, dealing with developments in Western Europe, Asia, and America which affect the contemporary world of the South Pacific. The other vacancy is for someone whose interests lie mainly in the field of politics, with preferably a developed interest in the South Pacific and/or Asian regions. A special interest in International Relations could also fit into the programme. Appointees will be required to teach in the Extension (external studies) programme, and verv likely in the Preliminary/Foundation (pre-degree) programme. Appointment to one of the posts will be for a contract period of 3 years and the second may be for a temporary period of one year.
