New marine officer named for port
A new regional marine officer for Christchurch and Lyttelton has been appointed by the Ministrv of Transport. He is Mr P. J. Williams, who will succeed Mr J. R. Wisker who has resigned to become a salmon farmer. Mr Williams at present the district administration officer at InvercargUl for the marine division, will commence his new duties in February. He was born in England 49 vears ago, and came to NewZealand in 1953. He worked for the Forest Service for six years before joining the Ministry of Transport in 1969 as a fisheries inspector and administration officer in the Chatham Islands. Mr Williams was transferred to Lvttelton in 1970 where he worked with the division until 1974 when he was transferred to his present position at Invercargill.
