Flyers beaten in summer basketball
Flyers suffered a severe set-1 back in their quest for the women’s A grade summer league, championship when they were beaten, for the first time, by; Mairehau in the sixth round. Three leading players and the coach were absent from the Flyers lineup, so the final score of 74-41 was not a true indication of the relative merits of the two sides. However, Mairehau, the only unbeaten side in the competition, is now strongly favoured to win the summer title. Y.M.C.A. A had to work surprisingly hard to avoid defeat at the hands of its B side in the men’s A grade. It railed. 25-28. at half-time, but recovered to win, 57-49. Y.M.C.A. A is the only unbeaten team.
