Lyttelton council to mark Year of Child
The Lyttelton Borough Council! will mark the International Year of the Child with an “It’s Your Community” programme aimed at acquainting school children with the workings of their local government. The Mayor (Mr M. E. Foster) has asked councillors and borough staff to be available on December 6, when the children will be introduced to the various borough departments, Including administration, works, electricity, and reserves. Children have been quick to adopt a new fashion fad which has spread quickly through Lyttelton. The children, along with watersiders and others, ai-e sporting new T-shirts emblazoned with a picture of the Union Steam Ship Company’s Holmdale and the words “M.V. Holmdale. . . Chatham Islands Greyhound”. Apart from Harbour Board ves seis, the Holmdale is probably the most familiar ship in Lyttelton, where she berths between supply voyages to the ARRIVALS Saturday Forum Nlugini (6.11 a.m.), 3394, Honiara (S.C.N.Z.).
