Two archdeacons appointed
Two new archdeacons were i appointed in the Christchurch • • dipcese recently by the Bis- • hop of Christchurch (the Rtl Rev. W. A. Pyatt). The Rev. Canon M. I. Mavli was appointed Archdeacon . of Sumner from December 12. He will replace Archdea- i con R. A. Carsoh. i Canon May has been vicar of St. Peter’s, Upper Riccar- i ton. since 1971. He became! chaplain to the Community < of the Sacred Name in 1975.il
and Rural Dean of North Christchurch, and a canon of Christchurch Cathedral in 1978. The Rev. M. H. Brown was appointed Archdeacon of Rangiora and Westland from December 12 to replace Archdeacon R. O. Williams, now of Rakaia. Mr Brown, formerly an accountant, was ordained in 1963. He was appointed vicar of his present parish St. Mary’s Merivale in 1974.
