Wigram man for London

A former commander of the Royal New Zealand Air Force base at Wigram has berm appointed head of the New Zealand Defence Liaison Staff in London. He is Air Commodore I. V. Mackay, of Dunedin, who took up the post earlier this month, succeeding Commodore F. H. Bland, of the Royal New Zealand Navy. Air Commodore Mackay, who has been deputy head of the liaison staff in London since 1976, joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1950 and trained as a navigator. He later trained as a pilot. In 1970 he was appointed commander of the Orion No. 5 Squadron, after which he took command of Woodbourne air base. He was commanding officer at Wigram just before he left for London.
