Geoff Boycott injured
NZPA Adelaide England’s opening batsman, Geoff Boycott, was severely bruised behind the left ear when he was knocked to the ground and forced to retire hurt at Adelaide yesterday while batting on the second day of the touring side’s four-day match against Combined Universities. Doctor Don Beard of the South Australian Cricket Association, who examined 1
Boycott in the England team’s dressing room after he was felled by a ball from the fast bowler, Peter Clough, said that Boycott had been instructed to return to the team’s hotel and rest. “We intended taking an X-ray but decided against it. He has severe bruising behind the left ear but there are no signs of concussion. We’ll have another look in the morning,” Dr Beard said.
