Bowling for Boon Hay Jim Bennie and Tony Pugh used the conditions intelligently Heavy rain set in and play was ibandoned at 3 p.m., with Merivale-Papanui 31 for one. After losing 75min of play at the start of the day the Southern Districts game with Harewood at Beckenham Park carried through to stumps without further interruption. Being sent in to bat on a damp wicket did not help Harewood s cause; the first wicket fell at 12 runs and by tea the fifth wicket had fallen for 25. In their opening spell Gary Baxter and Karl Slave between *hem bowled 15 overs for only me runs. Alan Gibson then
