Cup ride for Linda Jones?
NZPA Melbourne The Cambridge jockey, Linda Jones, could create history on Tuesday by becoming the first woman to ride in the Melbourne Cup. She is in line for the mount on the New Zealand horse. Magistrate. Magistrate’s trainer. lan Steffert, says that he will need to talk to Bob Skelton before a decision is made. Skelton rode Magistrate when he was third in the Werribee Cup on. Wednesday but also has the option of riding Karu in the Cup, Skelton wants to delay his choice until after riding Karu. which finished third in last '-ear’s Melbourne Cup, in the Dalgetv Handican at Flemington on Saturday.
