Five new stamps on November 26

The Post Office will release a set of three commemorative stamps to mark the opening of the twenty-fifth Commonwealth Parliamentary C inference on November 26 Two new stamps will be added on the same dav to the New- Zealand seashells series. The 30c conference stamp will depict the wall hanging in the main foyer of the Beehive, a 38 sq. m work designed by Guy Ngan and woven by Joan Calvert. A 14c stamp will depict the debating chamber of the House, and a

20c stamp will show two Parliamentary symbols, the Mace and the Black Rod. Don Hatcher did the graphic designs for all three stamps. The two additions to the seashell series will be a $2 stamp depicting a circular saw shell (Astraea heliotropium), and a $1 stamp shoxving a New' Zealand scallop (Pecten novazealandiae). The photo designs for these two stamps are by the late lan Hulse, who designed the four definitive seashell stamp released last vear.
