Du Pont to open office

PA Wellington Du Pont (New Zealand), Ltd. a wholly-owned subsidiary of E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company Inc., of the United States, will be opening its offices in Auckland tomorrow.

The new company was established earlier this year with the consent of the Overseas Investment Commission.

Du Pont (New Zealand) will distribute Du Pont products which are at present handled by Neill, Cropper and Company, Ltd. The company also plans to build and run a factory to make “Tovex” water gel explosives for commercial use in mining, construction, and quarrying, after the appropriate licences and approvals have been given. Neill, Cropper and Company, a subsidiary of Wattie Industries, Ltd, has sold Du Pont products in New Zealand for the past 25 years. The managing director of Wattle’s trading division (Mr J. D. Dunlop) is to serve on the board of directors of Du. Pont (New Zealand). Du Pont had world wide sales in 1978 of more than SUSIO billion. The company has 47 principal subsidiaries and affiliated companies in 25 countries. Its products include agricultural chemicals, synthetic rubber. X-ray and printing films and equipment.
