PA Wellington The committee on the A.N.Z. Banking Group (New Zealand) Bill recommended that it be allowed to proceed with amendments when Parliament sat yesterday. Mr J. L. Hunt (Lab., New Lynn) gave notice he will seek leave to introduce the Births and Deaths Registration Amendment Bill. Members gave 10 other notices of motion. Ministers answered 20 questions. The Auckland Electric. Power Board Amendment Bill, the Rotorua High Schools’ Board Empowering Bill and the Whangarei County (Rates Postponement) Validation, and Empowering Bill were introduced and referred to
the Local Bills Select. Committee. The Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Bill was reported back to Parliament from the Lands and Agriculture Select Committee, without amendment. The Thames Valley Drainage Board Empowering Amendment Bill was committed and given a third reading. Parliament resumed the interrupted debate on the Social Welfare Estimates which continued until the 5.30 p.m. adjournment. The House completed the debate on the Social Welfare Estimates and the Transport Estimates. Debate on the Agricultural Estimates was interrupted by the 10.30 p.m. adjournment.
