Dramatic golf victory
NZPA Adelaide I The former New Zealand junior champion. Heather Ryan, yesterday scored a dramatic win over the title holder, Lindy Gaggin. of Tasmania, to go into today's 'semi-finals of the Australian ladies amateur golf championships at the Royal Adelaide Club. Miss Ryan, aged 21, of i Putaruru. coaxed home a sft birdie putt on the twentieth hole for her cliffhanging victory. j She now meets a former ; British champion. Edwina
Kennedy, of New South Wales. Miss Ryan, staged a miraculous recovery to force the match into extra play. The 1977 New Zealand championship runner-up was four down after eight holes to Mrs Goggin's consistent controlled play. But she rallied with a birdie on the ninth to get back into the match. Miss Ryan completed the last eleven holes in three under par and then overwhelmed Mrs Goggin with her vital putt on the twentieth
