Otago well beaten
PA Wellington Wellington recorded its third win in the national rugby championship first div. ision when it beat Otago, 153, at Wellington on Saturday. Wellington’s forwards showed a far better appreciation of the greasy' conditions, winning a lot of ruck and maul ball, and kept Otago tryless in the second half. Three penalties by Allan Hewson and a try by the flanker, Maurie Standish, 15
minutes into the first half gave Wellington a handy 15-0 half-time lead. The expected dominance of the Otago forwards never eventuated, and the South Island team was at sixes and sevens for a long time after the retirement of Frank Oliver with a hand injury four minutes into the second half. Bevan Wilson, the All Black full-back, missed three easy penalty kicks before his solitary success.
