Boat fire at port

PA . Wellington .The crew of the Korean 'fishing boat Dae 'Yang 201 moored at Aotea Quay, Wellington, were ’cleaning- up after the fire which swept through a storage area in the stern of the ship early yesterday morning. Stacks. <sf cylinders, thought to contain liquid petroleum gas or ammonia, were on the decks immediately above the fire when firemen arrived. The fire chief, Mr R. Mills, said that the cylinders were labelled. “However, we were told we

should not necessarily take the labels as being a true indication of what was inside,” he said. The cylinders were cooled by spray from a number of hoses as the firemen fought the blaze below. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes. Mr Mills described it as a ‘‘very confined fire in a small space.” No-one was injured.
