NZPA Washington The New Zealand women’s hockey team was held to a 2-2 draw by Argentina in World Cup play-offs for minor places in Vancouver, British Columbia, yesterday. The draw with the South Americans means that the two teams are deadlocked in the battle for ninth place in the championships.
Final standings will be decided today when New Zealand plays Japan and the Argentinians meet Ireland.
The Netherlands and West Germany, the No. 1 and 2 seeds, emerged with semifinal, 1-0, victories over Australia and the United States respectively yesterday, and will meet today to decide the title-holder.
