Smith Brown ahead 30 p.c.
PA Auckland Smith and Brown Maple Furnishing. Ltd, is raising its annual dividend rate from 16.5 per cent to 18 per cent (9c a share) after a 30.6 per cent profit rise to §2,487,000 in the year to June 30. Part of this gain represented a recovery, because in 1978, profit was down 19.9 per cent. In addition to the §2.5M trading profit the companyextraordinary profits of §508,000 were realised from the sale of properties. In 1978 extraordinary- profits totalled §305,000. Group sales for the latest year rose 30 per cent to SSIM. A tax-free final dividend of 11 per cent is payable on October 17.
