Key used in theft
A key was used to steal more than $15,000 in cash and jewellery from a safe at the D.B. Sandridge Hotel in : Colombo Street, Sydenham on Sunday night. It is believed that the thieves used a key to get into the hotel’s accommodation office, then managed to find the key to the They stole about $lO,OOO in cash and cheques, a watch, and two rings.
The police believe the bur< glars probably left through a side window of the groundfloor offices. The theft was not discovered until yesterday morning. Later, the police discovered that the safe had been unlocked, and not forced. Several detectives worked on the case throughout yesterday, but no arrest had been made by last evening.
