New carrier
The United States Navy’s top admiral, Thomas Hayward, is convinced Russia is building its fourth aircraft carrier of the Kiev class, among the most powerful warships in the world. Navy officials passed the word after Admiral Hayward, chief of naval operations, called attention to Russia’s fleet expansion in a speech. The pace of Russia’s latestarting carrier construction programme has impressed defence officials for some time. — Washington.
