Accidental shooting
Greymouth reporter A youth died in Grey Hospital on Saturday morning, after being shot in the head on Friday with a .22 rifle. He was Herbert John Leach, aged 17, of Hokitika. He was shooting rabbits in the bed of the Styx River, in the Kokatahi Valley, when he was accidentally shot in the head by a companion.
