League Match will probably be abandoned
It seems unlikely that Canterbury's postponed representative rugby league match with Wellington will be held. The game was called off on Saturday because the playing field in Wellington was awash after constant heavy rain. Because both Canterbury and Wellington have no chance of progressing further in the national Rothmans tournament — they were both beaten by West Coast — there was no longer anything at stake in the fixture. Canterbury officials will recommend to the New Zealand Rugby League that the match be abandoned.
