‘Tangible’ Govt grant
PA Wellington A grant of $2OOO has been made to the Widows’ and Widowers’ Association. The Minister of Social Welfare (Mr Gair), said the grant would enable the association to meet commitments for this year while it examined future fund-raising options. “It will provide tangible Government support to an organisation heavily involved in the welfare of widowed people," he said. The Widows’ and Widowers’ Association was formed in 1976 to encourage self-sufficiency and independence, particularly among the recently bereaved, said Mr Gair.
