The pros and cons of opening adoption records
Those who advocate and are working for changes to the secrecy clause of the 1955 Adoption Act, which would give adoptees access to adoption records, had their say yesterday. Today, VICKI FUREY reports the comments of those who totally oppose changes, of those who point out dangerous trends, of those who would accept limited changes under strict regulations, and of a politician who intends to press for amendments to the act and of adopted parents who hint at a backlash movement if changes were made. This is the final instalment of her two-report investigation.
