Anthem at rugby match
Sir, — On Saturday I went to Lancaster Park to watch Canterbury beat Auckland. I was looking forward to an afternoon of good rugby when I was greatly disturbed to hear “God Save the Queen” being played as our National Anthem. Whatever happened to “God Defend New Zealand”? Have events overtaken the Canterbury Rugby Union or can they not afford to buy a recording of New Zealand’s National Anthem? — Yours, etc., RAYMUND PATRICK KEENAHAN. August 19, 1979.
