Coping with gangs
Sir, — In Christchurch today there is tangible proof that the Bible—God’s written instructions to man—has not lost its ancient power. This being contrary to what Alastair Gardner says, (August 18): that it is no use quoting the Bible as being relevant to achieving a solution of the gang problem. Only recently an estimated 7000 people went to hear Steve Ryder, the one time violent bank robber, now called to the ministry of healing and preaching. Hundreds, through faith in Christ the Lord received salvation and many were physically healed of the Lord. The lovely new Baptist Church at Parklands, New Brighton, was full this morning (Sunday) with many new members all praising God and hearing the Bible preached by their pastor Derek Wiltshire — some of the evidence that the working power of God is in our midst today, when we hear and believe His Word — the Bible. — Yours, etc., A. DELHANTY. August 19, 1979.
