Top couple
After finishing runner-up last year the husband-and-wife team of Derek and Marion Thomas went one step better at the week-end and won the annual hus-band-and-wife Canterbury indoor bowls title.
In the final they beat Bill and Lilas Mclntyre, 14-8, after leading, 6-1, at the completion of four ends. The winners of the 1976 and 1978 titles, Bruce and Vai McLeod, were beaten ini the quarter-finals but John
and Beryl Dishington, who beat the McLeod’s, were themselves eliminated by the Mclntyres in the semi-finals. Results:—
