Four golf pro-ams

Four pro-ams on successive days in Canterbury next month will give the country’s professional golfers a chance to earn some quick, and not inconsiderable, - prize money. The Canterbury events — part of several mini-circuits that have been formed throughout the country in recent years — will start at Weedons on September 20 and will be followed on successive days by Templeton, Coringa and Waitikiri.

The four tournaments each have stake money of $l5OO and the $6OOO lure is likely to attract some of the promising North Island professionals, notably Craig Owen and Mike Moynihan, who was well-placed in the recent Fiji Open.
