Situation: As the large depression east of the North Island moves away the southerly flow over northern New Zealand is decreasing; a ridge of high pressure extends over central New Zealand from an anticyclone in the north Tasman Sea; this ridge is moving slowly north-east; a disturbed Westerly airstream covers the south Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand.
Forecast: Canterbury: Fine and cool with light winds. Marlborough, Nelson: Fine and cool with mainly light winds, but northeriies freshening about the Sounds. Buller, Westland: Mainly fine and cool with light winds, cloud increasing in south Westland with freshening north-westerly winds. Outlook: Showers in most districts.
