1979. Public Notices <MEt> KITE FLYING KITE FLYING KITE FLYING KITE FLYING A WARNING TO PARENTS A WARNING TO PARENTS AND CHILDREN AND CHILDREN THIS Department removes about one hundred (100) kites from the overhead power lines during each kite flying season. Although this involves the Department in considerable time and expense our principal concern is for the safety of children whose kites may be involved. Under certain circumstances a serious accident could occur, particularly if the child attempted to pull the kite free. The kite could also be the cause of a power outage which, in turn, could have serious consequences for some of our consumers. This is a very real risk and we request all parents, teachers and others having control of children to ensure that no kites are flown in the vicinity of power lines. Please abandon any kite, should it become eniangled in the power lines, and inform the Department, telephone 790-900. ext. 857.
