Card Shark for Queensland
The Overtrick horse, Card Shark, which has five-year-olds as his oldest progeny in New Zealand, has been leased for three years to Mr B. J. Wilson, who has a stud in Queensland. Within 24 hours of the lease being arranged earlier this week, Mr Wilson reported that he had 30 firm bookings for the current season.
Card Shark has left such winners as Captain Clive, Beaufort and Ruling Play in New Zealand and Huckleberry Del in Australia. He is also the sire. of High Card, which attracted attention when he finished third at the Addington trials on Wednesday.
Card Shark has stood alongside Lopez Hanover and World Skipper. Lopez Hanover is building up a handy list of 2min winners, his latest being Monkani Ace, which won recently in Imin 59.4 s in the United States.
Albuquerque, which recently broke 2min, improved his record to Imin 59.25. The two-year-old son of Adover Rainbow is out of a daughter of Lopez Hanover, and he is believed to be the first 2min two-year-old to take his. record while officially at that age. Testing Times and Prince Rapide both broke 2min, but took their records in November when regarded as three-year-olds in New Zealand.
