Gold higher
NZPA-Reuter London The price of gold recovered more than SUSB an ounce on world markets on Wednesday. It rose in Europe to $291.25, recovering much of its attraction which put it above $3OO recently. Dealers said that the persistent demand for the metal reflected a lack of confidence in the United States dollar, stemming partly from continued speculation that oil producers might take action against the United States currency. However, the foreign exchange markets were relatively quiet, with the dollar hardly changed against other major currencies.
