PA Wellington A Supplementary Order Paper to amend the Local Government Act giving the police powers to close roads in emergencies was tabled by the Minister of Local Government (Mr Highet) and referred to the Local Bills Committee when Parliament sat at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. Mr D. F. Caygill (Lab., St Albans) presented a petition on behalf of Daniel Ngieng and about 11,000 others seeking repeal of the $l5OO fee to be imposed on overseas students studying in New Zealand. The annual report of the Local Authorities Loans Board was tabled by the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon). Members tabled two motions.
