Weather proof military clothing for Lebanon
Weather proof clothing produced by a Christchurch firm is being used by peace keeping forces in the Lebanon.
Skellerup Clothing and Rubber, Ltd, has in the past few months supplied almost 1000 sets of parkas and over-trousers to the Royal Fiji Military Forces, and the clothing is now required for the Fijian contingent to the peace keeping force in Lebanon. The general manager of Skellerup Clothing and Rubber (Mr L. Calvert) explained that the sale of the wet weather gear had resulted from a visit by Fijian military personnel
to army training courses in New Zealand. “Our garments are regularly supplied to New Zealand troops and were obviously seen by the Fijians who liked them,” Mr Calvert said.
“We are particularly pleased with the sale, which is the first time we have sent weather proof gear to the Islands.” Mr Calvert said the Skellerup wet weather clothing was made from a top quality, nylon based cloth coated with a synthetic rubber. “It is ideal for army purposes, trampers and the like, as it is light and easy to pack or carry,” he said.
