Sub-unions squad
The Canterbury Subunions rugby team will be looking for a win against Marlborough at the Rangiora Show Grounds on July 24 to finish its programme with a 50 per cent record. After a decisive win against Nelson Bays in its opening match, the country team lost to Mid-Canterbury and Canterbury Maoris before leaving on its southern tour on which it beat Southland Sub-unions and lost to Otago Sub-Unions Apart from Hugh Taylor, the squad which went on the southern tour has been retained with the addition of Denis Smolensk! and John
Ashworth (both not available for the southern tour) and Gavin Henderson, a replacement hooker for Taylor. The squad, which will train at the Rangiora Show Grounds on Sunday, July 22, at 10 a.m. is: Alan Jenkins, Smolensk], Lamen Hohaia, Ross Saunders, Neil Burton, Andrew Munro, Bruce Dunbar, Chris Rhodes, David Carter, Les Roberts, John Munro, Alex Wyllie, Ross Loffhagen, Don Hayes, Barney Henderson, Graeme Higginson, Alan Martin, Wayne Pearce, Ashworth, Barry Thompson, Matt Wilson, John Byrne, Gavin Henderson.
