Situation: A big anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea. A strong disturbed westerly airflow covers the south Tasman Sea and far south of New Zealand. Forecasts: Canterbury: Mainly fine, but varying amounts of high cloud; moderate coastal north-easterlies, lighter winds inland; cool.

Marlborough, Nelson: Northerlies slowly freshening near Cook Strait, otherwise light winds; fine and cool, but some cloud in coastal Marlborough. Buller, Westland: Moderate south-westerlies; cloudy and cool, some showers. Outlook: Showers in Buller and Westland, fair elsewhere.
