Unique plant being renewed
PA Wellington A SI.4M plant reconstruction programme is planned by the Waikato Carbonisation, Ltd, works at Rotowaro.
The plant, the only one of its kind in New Zealand, produces carbonettes and raycarbo for domestic heating appliances, and char, for steel and other production processes. The chairman of the company (Mr R. J. Whyte) said in a statement that reconstruction of the 50 year old plant had been under review for some time, and work would begin soon.
